Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Streetsboro High School

Minutemen Win: 2 - 1
Revere Girls Soccer Team advanced to their 3rd straight District final with their second overtime victory in as many games. Having played Streetsboro earlier in the season, Revere knew it wasn't going to be an easy game and so it proved. Streetsboro already had two very good chances before they eventually opened the scoring midway through the first half. Although Revere settled into the game, Streetsboro's speed on the counter attack continued to be a problem for the girls. Half time arrived with the Minutemen still trailing 1-0. In the second half, Revere looked more threatening, but could not find a way to break through a stubborn Streetsboro defense. In fact, it was Streetsboro that nearly added to their lead, with only last ditch defending from Claire Brokloff and two outstanding save from Revere goalkeeper Olivia Papouras keeping the deficit at one. Revere finally managed to equalize with about 7 minutes remaining when a shot from Sophia Koutrodimos came back off the crossbar and Quinn Downing was able to turn the loose ball into the Streetsboro goal. Both teams had chances to win the game in normal time but the game ended regular time with a score of 1-1. Overtime was a familiar situation for Revere as they had beaten Field in overtime on Thursday, and a similar outcome was about to develop. With less than a minute remaining in the first period of overtime, Teagan Johnston swung over a cross from the left. Under pressure from two Revere players, a Streetsboro defender got her head to the ball, but unfortunately for her, the ball looped over the goalkeeper and into the goal to send Revere into the District final against Copley on Thursday.

Minutemen Win: 1 - 0
Revere High School Girls Soccer Team progressed to the District semi-final with a 1-0 overtime victory over Field. Revere went into the game as favorites and dominated much of the game while restricting Field to just one attempt on target. As the game went on, Revere created a number of decent chances throughout the game but were unable to make the breakthrough whilst also being mindful of the threat that Field posed on the counter-attack. With no score during the 80 minutes, the game entered golden goal overtime. Revere finally got the goal their play deserved when Anna Clarke found space 30 yards from goal and fired a shot over the Field goalkeeper  and into the net to win the game and set up a District semi-final meeting at home against Streetsboro on Monday evening.

Minutemen Win: 3 - 2
Revere Girls Soccer Team produced a come-from-behind win against Marlington on Monday evening. Marlington  were much the better team in the first half during which Revere never really got going. Marlington opened the scoring midway through the half and added a second soon afterwards. Trailing 2-0 at halftime, Revere switched formations and were much better during the second half. The Minutemen pulled a goal back within the first couple of minutes of the second half when Raina Makkar controlled a ball to the left of the Marlington goal and managed to squeeze a shot into the goal from the narrowest of angles. Revere tied the game a few minutes later when a cross from the right was handled by a Marlington defender and Elyssa Koutrodimos dispatched the resulting penalty. Revere continued to press in search of a third goal but had to be wary of the threat that Marlington posed on the counter attack. Revere's patience was rewarded with about 8 minutes remaining when a clever back heel from Quinn Downing found Bianca Milovancev who fired a shot over the Marlington goalkeeper and into the far corner of the goal. Revere saw out the remainder of the game to record their 7th win of the season. The girls are next in action on Wednesday when they host Aurora.

Minutemen Win: 2 - 0
The Revere High School Girls Soccer Team beat Kent Roosevelt 2-0 in a Suburban League game on Wednesday evening. Revere enjoyed the majority of possession during the first half, and went ahead mid way through the half when Anna Clarke played a ball through for Morgan Fee. Fee advance into the Kent area and slotted a shot past the keeper and into the goal. Revere continued to press but were unable to add to the scoreline before half time. The second half brought much of the same, with Revere pressing and trying to find a way past a stubborn Kent defense. Revere finally added a second goal when Quinn Downing found Morgan Fee on the right hand side. Fee sent a high shot over the Kent goalkeeper and into the far corner of the net for her second goal of the game. Revere improve to 6-3-1 on the season and 3-1-0 in the Suburban League. With the JV team winning 3-2, it was a good night all round for the girls.

Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Buckeye High School

Minutemen Win: 1 - 0
Revere Girls Soccer Team defeated Buckeye 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. In the hot afternoon sun, Revere avenged both Wednesday's loss at Copley and last season's loss at Buckeye. Revere went into the game knowing that Buckeye (7-2-1) had taken their place as the number two team in the district behind Copley. This seemed to be the motivation that Revere needed as they started strongly and had a number of decent chances to open the scoring. Bianca Milovancev, Anna Clarke, and Quinn Downing all had opportunities but failed to open the scoring for the Minutemen. With the temperature so hot, the referee allowed a water break midway through the half, and this seemed to disrupt Revere's rhythm. Goalkeeper Olivia Papouras made a number of good saves to keep the game goalless and half time arrived with the score 0-0. Revere came out in the second half and took control of the game, bossing possession and forcing Buckeye back. Revere took a deserved lead with about 20 minutes remaining when a corner from Anna Clarke was played short to Teagan Johnston. Teagan's ball cross into the area found the head of Morgan Fee, who powered a header past the Buckeye keeper and into the net. Revere worked hard for the remainder of the game to keep Buckeye scoreless and provide the perfect response to Wednesday's disappointing loss at Copley. Revere's next game is at Stow on Monday evening.

Girls Varsity Soccer vs. Copley High School

Minutemen Lose: 1 - 2
Revere Girls Soccer team lost a tight contest at Copley by the odd goal in three. Copley were the more aggressive team during the first half, winning the loose balls and dictating the majority of the ball. Copley opened the scoring midway through the half when a shot was parried by Revere goalkeeper Olivia Papouras only for a Copley forward to steer the rebound into the net. Revere improved greatly in the 2nd half and tied the game when Claire Brokloff managed to stab a loose ball over the line. Revere were playing with greater confidence but went behind for a second time when Revere had possession near their own goal but failed to clear the ball up the field. Copley capitalized on a loose pass to easily beat Papouras and regain the lead. Revere continued to press in search of a second equalizer and thought they had found it when Morgan Fee crashed a shot from outside the area against one of the posts. The rebound fell to Anna Clarke whose shot cannoned against the crossbar and down onto the goal line. Everyone thought it was a goal, but unfortunately, the referee disagreed and allowed play to continue. Replays showed this was a good decision as the ball appeared to bounce on the line, but not over it. Revere kept working hard but were unable to get back into the game and the final score was a 2-1 loss. Revere are next in action when they host Buckeye on Saturday.

Minutemen Win: 4 - 1
The Revere Girls Soccer Team improved their overall record to 3-1-1 and remained unbeaten in Suburban League play with a 4-1 win against Barberton on Wednesday evening. Revere started the game strongly, and took  the lead inside the first few minutes when Morgan Fee fired in a cross that was deflected into her own goal by a Barberton defender. Revere doubled their lead mid way through the half when Ruby McGrievy mishit a shot inside the Barberton penalty area. The ball fell kindly to Morgan Fee who took a touch before smashing the ball past the Barberton goalkeeper and into the net. Revere ended the half on a high when Anna Clarke jinked her way through the Barberton defense and fired in a low shot that the Barberton goalkeeper was unable to save. Revere started the second half slowly but were able to add to their lead when Bianca Milovancev was brought down in the area by the Barberton goalkeeper. Senior Elyssa Koutrodimos stepped up to dispatch the resulting penalty. Revere took the opportunity to get almost all players into the game. Soon afterward, Barberton managed to pull a goal back with a high shot that beat Revere substitute goalkeeper Ava Ash, but Revere, and held tight and didn't give up any more goals. Revere host North Canton Hoover on Saturday before traveling to Highland next Wednesday for their 3rd  game in the Suburban League.

Revere Girls Open Suburban League Play With Win

Minutemen Win: 5 - 0
Revere Girls Soccer Team won their opening Suburban League game 5-0 at Tallmadge. Revere started slowly and were unable to replicate the level of play they displayed in their last game at Westlake on Monday.  Tallmadge were working hard and closing down the space but Revere gradually began to find their rhythm and  opened the scoring when Bianca Milovancev played in Quinn Downing who beat the Tallmadge keeper with a neat finish. Revere doubled their lead when Teagan Johnston floated a free kick into the area. The ball evaded everyone, including the Tallmadge keeper and nestled into the back of the net.  Anna Clarke added a third Revere goal before half time with a clinical left footed shot that gave the Tallmadge keeper no chance. Quinn Downing added a couple more goals in the 2nd half,  with assists from Teagan Johnston and Morgan Fee, allowing her to complete her hat trick. Revere host Barberton in another Suburban League game in their next game on Wednesday evening.

Minutemen Lose: 1 - 1
Revere Girls Soccer Team traveled to Westlake on Monday evening for a non-conference game against the Division 1 Demons. For the first time this season, Revere started the game confidently and were at least a match for their hosts. As the half wore on, Revere seemed to get stronger and were unlucky not to open the scoring after creating a number of decent opportunities.  The second half continued in the much the same way as the first, with Revere continuing to pass and press, with Westlake offering a threat on the counter attack. Revere took a deserved lead midway through the 2nd half when Teagan Johnston floated in a free kick and Morgan Fee leapt to power a header over the Westlake goalkeeper and into the net.  Westlake began to press Revere back as the 2nd half wore on, but Revere were more than a match for everything Westlake could throw at them. Unfortunately for the Lady Minutemen, Westlake managed to force an equalizer with 4 minutes remaining when Revere failed to clear a corner and a Westlake forward manged to find a way past Revere goalkeeper Olivia Papouras. Revere continue to improve after their first two games , and can certainly feel proud of their work and accomplishment at Westlake. They are next in action as they open Suburban League play at Tallmadge on Wednesday at 7:00pm
